Jump on Things
November 24, 2012

The anticipation is killing me. I have so many ideas swirling in my head for my 365 Days of Creativity, that I just found myself working on a project that was totally inspired by the seaside color palette. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

In preparation for the 365 Days of Creativity, I decided to do some experimenting with something new-jewelry making. I have always been curious, but I was always afraid to take the plunge. This morning I jumped in with both feet and I wound up making 9 pairs in 4 different designs.

Only one could be considered to be inspired by the sea, and even that is a stretch,  but it was fun.

A Little Preview
November 7, 2012

My dear friend Laura, who is also considering the 365 challenge, is always telling me about cool things going on up in Westminster where she lives. The next big thing is a wreath festival at The Art Center. I really wanted to make a wreath, so I decided to see what I could make inspired by the sea. Here is what I created and will be submitting to the festival.

A Little About Me
November 3, 2012

I am not an artist. Let me repeat that. I am NOT an artist. I am just a mom who has always been interested in photography. That interest in photography led me to scrapbooking naturally, and I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years now.

From scrapbooking, it was only natural to move on to card making. I mean, I already had plenty of paper and card stock. I started looking for other paper crafts I could do and even made and sold small gift bags, primarily to a local jewelry vendor.

I do some cross stitching and have been known to do some latch hook items, but my passion is paper crafting. As a result, a lot of my projects will be paper-based. However, I do want to challenge myself, so I am going to really make an effort to include as many non-paper projects as I can.

Getting Started
November 1, 2012

Now that I have committed to this and selected a theme, I am eager to get started. Waiting until January 1 is going to be almost as big a challenge as actually making something every single day for a year. In the mean time, I guess I can start gathering ideas. This little notebook that I already had seems like the perfect place to jot down notes and ideas.

What do you think?

About Inspired by the Sea
November 1, 2012

Beginning on January 1, 2013, I am going to begin posting a daily project inspired in some way by the sea. My motivation for this is 365: A Daily Creativity Journal: Make Something Every Day and Change Your Life by Noah Scalin. My inspiration may be fish one day and seashells the next. The only rule is that every project must in some way be inspired by the sea and items associated with it. Other than that, there are no rules. I hope you will check back beginning in January to see what kinds of projects I come up with.
